As an unarmed patrol officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control, observe and report unusual activity, and communicate clearly with residents, staff, and visitors while delivering customer service. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout common areas, hallways, entrances, and the exterior perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify maintenance and/or access concerns.
  • Monitor access points, observe visitor traffic, and assist with controlled entry and/or exit procedures in accordance with site guidelines.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation support and timely notification to site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and notable observations in written logs and reports, and communicate shift updates to Allied Universal supervision and oncoming personnel.
