As an Unarmed Patrol Officer supporting a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will greet staff, residents, and visitors with professionalism, communicate clearly, and document observations to support smooth operations. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of common areas, hallways, entrances, exterior grounds, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or unauthorized access.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts when possible and requesting additional assistance as needed.
  • Monitor access points and observe resident and visitor activity, verifying authorization per site procedures and documenting issues for follow-up.
  • Complete detailed shift logs and incident reports, communicate relevant information during shift transitions, and support Allied Universal and site leadership with routine administrative tasks as assigned.
