About The Position

As a Security Officer - NYS Licensed Shelter Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support staff and guests with professional customer service, clear communication, and accurate reporting while responding to concerns as they arise. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have 1+ years of security-related experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Nice To Haves

  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation support and timely notification to site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Control access by monitoring entry points, verifying authorization as required, managing visitor check-in processes, and assisting with traffic flow during peak arrival and/or departure periods.
  • Document observations, incidents, and actions taken in written reports and/or activity logs, and communicate shift updates to Allied Universal supervision and site contacts.
