About The Position

As a Security Officer - Utilities Entry Control Driver in Council Bluffs, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Allied Universal Officer at a utilities location, you will manage access control by greeting visitors, confirming credentials, logging entries, and supporting a smooth flow of people and vehicles. You will conduct routine patrols, stay visible to help deter security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site teams while delivering strong customer service. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors by following site-specific procedures, access control policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at entry points by verifying identification, issuing and/or tracking temporary credentials, and directing visitors to approved destinations.
  • Operate gatehouse and/or lobby access control processes, including checking vehicles and deliveries for authorization and completing required logs.
  • Monitor CCTV, access control panels, and alarm systems for security-related conditions and report irregular activity per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications and documenting actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of utility facilities, buildings, yards, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity.
  • Perform routine checks of doors, gates, and restricted areas, reporting maintenance concerns and access issues through established channels.
  • Complete accurate written and electronic reports, including incident reports, daily activity reports, and pass-down information for shift transitions.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather response, and operational interruptions as directed by site leadership and post orders.
  • Communicate professionally with site personnel and Allied Universal leadership, using radios, phones, and other assigned systems to coordinate responses and request assistance when needed.
