About The Position

As a Senior Data Assurance Engineer, you will lead efforts to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of sensitive data through advanced data loss prevention and information assurance practices. This role involves guiding incident response, enhancing data protection protocols, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate cyber risks. You will also develop and maintain operational procedures, mentor team members, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise in cybersecurity principles, data mining, and automation will support Walmart’s commitment to safeguarding critical information and driving operational excellence. About the team: The DAC team comprises experienced engineers dedicated to Data Loss Prevention, protecting sensitive PCI, HIPAA, customer, business, and associate data globally. This team serves as a vital defense layer, employing advanced tools and collaborating with Information Security teams. Focus areas include incident management, cyber risk evaluation, and information assurance to ensure data security and integrity. The team prioritizes automation and software development to strengthen protection measures. Operating within a structured environment, members support continuous improvement and maintain effective stakeholder engagement to uphold high standards of data protection and operational excellence. What you'll do: We are expanding our team and looking for a Senior Data Assurance Engineer to build and maintain automation and AI‑assisted initiatives to improve signal quality, scalability, and operational efficiency, aligning with modern Data Loss Prevention (DLP) practices that emphasize noise reduction and actionable insights over raw alert volume. You will be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for building, tuning, and maintaining DLP detection logic, classification rules, and protection policies across endpoints, email, and cloud platforms. You will collaborate with Information Security, Infrastructure, Data Governance, Privacy, and business teams to understand data flows, implement controls, and support audits and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 3 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
  • 5 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Security+, Network+, GISF, CISSP, or CCSP
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related area and 1 year’s Exposure of leading/ working on Information Security / Cybersecurity Projects

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automation workflows to streamline policy deployment, alert triage, reporting, and remediation activities using scripting and API integrations.
  • Create and maintain operational dashboards and metrics that measure control effectiveness, alert quality, response times, and risk trends.
  • Implement and manage enterprise DLP controls across endpoint, email, network, SaaS, and cloud platforms.
  • Develop, test, and tune data classification and detection rules to improve accuracy, reduce false positives, and enhance risk-based alerting.
  • Ability to independently drive technical tasks and support broader initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
