Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
  • Six months of experience in manufacturing, packaging, or processing foods (minimum of 500 meals per day or the equivalent in mass production), and in the care of related equipment.
  • A valid Los Angeles Unified School District Food Handler's Health Certificate must be obtained by the time of appointment.
  • PROMOTIONAL STATUS IS REQUIRED. You must be a current or retired employee of LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service or have been laid-off within the past 39 months from a regular, permanent LAUSD position in which you passed probation.

  • The ideal candidate for Senior Food Production Assistant will have a proven record of experience and knowledge in maintaining efficient food and/or manufacturing based production lines.
  • The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and is able to lead a team and delegate work to yield positive outcomes in the workplace and provide excellent service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • The ideal candidate adheres to safety instructions and policies and is cautious while working with manufacturing equipment.
  • This individual will be focused on results making sure that production is maintained at an efficient speed, diagnosing equipment stoppages and making minor equipment repairs, and assigning employees to production line locations to meet production goals.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with food handling, portion size, quality control, and have knowledge of the effective safety and sanitation procedures that apply in a food production facility.
  • This candidate will be willing to demonstrate proper techniques and use of food production equipment to others, and be willing to step in and do work equivalent with those that he or she is leading in order to make sure production standards are met.
  • They are also willing and able to report for work as early as 4 am, or as late as 4 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining production standards by supervising portion, sanitation, and quality control; diagnosing equipment stoppages and making minor equipment repairs; and assigning employees to production line locations to meet production goals.
  • Performing the duties of a Food Production Assistant in assembling materials, setting up and cleaning equipment, preparing foods, filling in as needed on production runs, and packaging and moving completed meals and components.
  • Operating a forklift or supply transporter.
