The Senior Human Resources Coordinator is a valued HR partner within OVPR, providing thoughtful, consultative human resources support to the OVPR portfolio. This position contributes to a responsive and service‑driven HR infrastructure by applying policy expertise, operational excellence, and a collaborative mindset to support the University’s research mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in Human Resources at UT Austin with demonstrated knowledge of the University’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving, and sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently while contributing effectively as a team member.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a collaborative and solution‑oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Workday and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • HR Essentials certification.
  • More than five years of progressive experience in Human Resources at UT Austin.
  • Experience developing and managing Smartsheets or similar process‑tracking tools.
  • Experience serving as a lead resource and mentor.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with the OVPR Director of Human Resources to advise supervisors and staff on a wide range of HR matters, including personnel actions, recruitments, performance management, employee relations, and special projects.
  • Provides thoughtful recommendations aligned with the University’s policies, best practices, and organizational goals.
  • Reviews and processes Workday transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Proactively communicates with HR Partners to resolve questions and streamline approvals.
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances OVPR HR Smartsheets forms and trackers to support efficiency and data‑informed decision‑making. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and recommends process enhancements that strengthen HR services.
  • Reviews research associate hiring packets to ensure adherence to the University’s requirements.
  • Coordinates the review of research scientist promotion and hiring requests, preparing materials for the VPR Promotion Committee and advancing recommendations for final approval by the Vice President for Research.
  • Manages visa requests and extensions for assigned OVPR units, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements while providing clear guidance and responsive support to stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
