About The Position

The Senior Manager, Data Strategy and Evaluation leads the strategic use, synthesis, and communication of data across UWNYC’s Food & Benefits Access (FBA) unit. This role conducts applied data analysis and oversees the development of analytic products and reporting across FBA programs and FeedNYC to support planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in fostering a data-informed culture across FBA programs and translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights and reports that guide organizational and network-level decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in evaluation, data analytics, public health, data science, social sciences, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is a must.
  • Experience working with social services, health, or food distribution data and ability to maintain data confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Excel; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.) a plus.
  • Demonstrated Ability to translate data into clear, accessible insights for diverse audiences, including community partners.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple data tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management and documentation practices.
  • Comfort traveling across NYC’s five boroughs on public transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of food access, public health and the NYC antipoverty landscape preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Google Forms) and virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize an FBA data strategy to ensure data informs program strategy, resource allocation, and operational decision-making.
  • Partner with FBA leadership to translate strategy into actionable metrics, and integrate analytic insights into program and network decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Director, FeedNYC Data Systems to ensure analytic insights inform system enhancements and operational workflows.
  • Foster a data-informed culture across FBA programs, embedding the use of data into planning, operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide FBA teams on using data effectively to support strategic goals.
  • Conduct analyses of FBA program and FeedNYC data to identify trends, service gaps, performance indicators, and emerging needs.
  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings into actionable insights that inform strategy, policy, and operational priorities.
  • Develop, monitor, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) across FBA programs
  • Design and lead network surveys and assessments to understand provider capacity, emerging needs, and system-wide trends.
  • Manage and collaborate with external consultants to develop a data training curriculum. and resources, strengthening effective use of data across FBA and the network.
  • Create written reports, memos, presentations, and data visualizations that communicate insights from data analysis of FBA workstreams and the broader emergency food network.
  • Translate complex data and analyses into clear, accessible narratives and visualizations for internal and external audiences.
  • Support the creation of data dashboards and tools that provide accessible data to program team.
  • Monitor and draw on existing research and community data sources to enrich internal analysis and provide a more complete understanding of NYC’s emergency food landscape.
  • Facilitate internal data reviews and quarterly discussions with FBA leadership to support planning, prioritization, and course correction.
  • Lead quarterly data discussions with FBA teams to review progress across multiple streams of work and surface key insights.
