About The Position

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking an experienced Documentation Manager to join our team in Nashville, TN. Position Overview TransCore is a global leader in tolling and traffic management technology. We are dedicated to partnering with transportation agencies around the world to deliver innovative solutions that help the traveling public move around more efficiently. As we continue to grow and expand our product portfolio, we are seeking an experienced documentation manager to build a scalable knowledge base from the ground up, defining the tooling, architecture, content strategy, and standards to transform complex technical concepts into clear, polished documentation across our portfolio of transportation technologies. To lead the end‑to‑end documentation program , the ideal candidate will: Have a proven track record of building documentation systems from scratch, including defining information architecture, processes, standards, and style guides to ensure quality and consistency across a portfolio of products. Be comfortable working in a "greenfield" environment and capable of setting direction. Possess strong technical aptitude to understand complex technical concepts (API specs, code samples, system architecture) and translate them into clear, accessible content for various audiences. View documentation as a scalable ecosystem that requires user-centric design, maintenance, and continuous improvement. Act as a bridge between Engineering and Product, proactively interviewing SMEs to extract knowledge, source and update legacy content, and identify new content needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, or Computer Science. A combination of equivalent education and practical experience may be considered.
  • 5-10 years of experience managing high-performing technical documentation programs in a software product environment preferred, with a proven track record of defining editorial standards, implementing tools and processes to govern the program, and establishing rigorous workflows to ensure consistency at scale.
  • Experience building documentation systems from scratch.
  • Experience selecting and implementing a headless content management system and/or component content management system.
  • Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms.
  • Ability to build cross-functional partnerships with leadership across the organization to align documentation strategy with product roadmaps and proactively identify knowledge gaps.
  • Proficient in written and visual communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft365 (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Desired familiarity with Confluence, Azure, Visio, Figma, Kiro.

Responsibilities

  • Define the Architecture: Lead the end-to-end documentation strategy, including the information architecture, taxonomy, and navigation structure to ensure documentation across the product portfolio is intuitive for users and scalable for the future.
  • Establish Standards : Create and maintain the documentation style guide and standards to ensure consistency in voice, tone, and terminology across all TransCore products.
  • Solidify Content Strategy: Establish and oversee the plan for creating, delivering, maintaining, and governing content to achieve business goals and meet user needs.
  • Manage the Lifecycle : Own the continuous maintenance and auditing of the knowledge base, ensuring all content remains accurate and scalable as the product portfolio evolves and grows.
  • Translate Complexity : Collaborate directly with engineering and product teams to ensure highly technical specifications, code samples, and system logic is translated into clear, digestible, and user-friendly resources.
  • Implement Best Practices : Advise on resource needs and oversee production of highly polished, market-ready technical documentation that ensures a seamless experience for external partners and customers.
