About The Position

Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for proactively providing operational leadership for the organization’s human resources function. The Senior Manager oversees key HR areas including talent management, employee relations, performance management, benefits and compliance. This position also manages HR policies and programs, administers payroll, ensures adherence to employment laws and company policies, and executes on initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and growth-focused workplace. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a growth-oriented mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline; minimum of 5 years experience
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now required
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements 
  • Strong understanding of employment law, regulatory requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience working independently for a remote organization
  • Growth mindset with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and continuously develop new skills
  • Ability to partner with business leaders to drive compliance and new HR related projects forward
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll and administering benefits
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentations skills, with the ability to interface with audiences of all levels throughout the organization
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle recruitment process from candidate engagement to offer extension and onboarding, ensuring a positive experience for new hires; track key recruitment metrics and provide timely recruitment activity updates to hiring managers
  • Manage the onboarding process: administer background and reference checks, obtain new hire paperwork, I-9 verification, monitor compliance of all required trainings in accordance with federal, state and local laws, collaborate with internal IT to ensure equipment and various accounts are setup
  • Manage the offboarding process: IT equipment returns, terminating system access, administer and review offboarding surveys 
  • Serve as a key liaison with benefit providers and reconcile monthly benefit statements. Benefits include healthcare, COBRA, FMLA/PFL, Life insurance, Disability, 401K Retirement Plan and FSA programs
  • Manage and oversee relationships with external benefits brokers to support plan renewals, vendor negotiations, compliance, and employee benefits administration
  • Accurately maintain HRIS including ensuring integrity of personnel records
  • Support the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, such as surveys, team-building activities and recognition programs
  • Maintain and update job descriptions and organizational chart to ensure proper team structure and visibility
  • Respond to HR related inquiries from employees
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in HR to continuously improve HR processes and update company policies as needed. 
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify talent needs, risks and gaps
  • Manage relationship with outsourced HRIS vendor and certify that multi-state bi-weekly payroll is processed accurately and timely in compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Partner with HRIS vendor to ensure required federal, state and local filings are submitted and pertinent tax issues are resolved
  • Collect and verify timekeeping information for hourly employees
  • Identify and implement improvements in payroll systems and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Track monthly health benefits eligibility and ensure employee deductions are taken from payroll
  • Ensure all 401K retirement plan contributions are made accurately and timely and that regulatory requirements are met
  • Obtain, audit, and distribute annual employee tax statements (e.g., W-2s).
  • Generate payroll and 401K related reports for internal use and external agencies, such as government entities and workers' compensation organizations
  • Respond and process audit requests, including workers’ compensation audits
  • Provide support to employees and managers on performance, behavior, and interpersonal issues
  • Provide guidance to staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment where employees are supported in their professional and personal growth
  • Support the development and implementation of training programs and performance management systems that encourage employee growth, accountability, and regular feedback for staff members
  • Promote leadership development and career advancement opportunities for employees
  • Work with managers to identify skill gaps and create relevant training solutions, provide coaching, and identify professional development opportunities for employees
  • Oversee benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and meet the needs of employees
  • Evaluate and improve HR systems, tools, and vendor relationships to enhance operational efficiency
  • Manage employee benefits enrollment and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Work closely with senior leadership to assess and recommend changes to salary structures as necessary
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
