About The Position

The Senior Manager of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for leading and managing the PMAFF’s technology infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, systems administration, and staff technology enablement. As the organization approaches a new stage of growth, this role ensures that all technology systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs. This is an inaugural role created to support the organization’s expanding operational and technological needs. The Senior Manager of IT will work closely with the Operations team and will report directly to the Director of Operations, playing a key role in strengthening the organization’s internal infrastructure and supporting staff across departments. This position builds on the foundation laid by a fractional CIO and is responsible for further strengthening infrastructure, managing vendors, leading the analysis and development of an internal IT support structure and serving as the organization’s in-house expert on IT systems and security. The role is highly collaborative, supporting all staff and serving as the primary escalation point for technical issues that exceed Tier 1 support. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise while also embodying PMAFF’s values of collaboration, communication, excellence, and empathy. Along with technical ability, the position requires analytic and strategic thinking, autonomy, and deep expertise in building and deploying information technology through an equitable, accessible, and inclusive lens.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive IT management experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager is required.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity tools, MFA, VPNs, and device/security management.
  • Experience working in a Mac-based environment.
  • Professional presence and gravitas to capably represent the Foundation and uphold its reputation.
  • Creative, energetic, and optimistic approach to work, including the ability to act strategically.
  • Excellent writing and analytic skills, including the ability to assess and synthesize complex information and briefly summarize the essence of issues and means to address them.
  • Excellent project management skills and the capacity to meet deadlines. Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills required.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex IT concepts to nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s hardware, software, data, and devices securely and accurately (Mac environment).
  • Oversee administration of Microsoft M365, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, and system policies.
  • Manage Microsoft Intune and Entra ID (conditional access, compliance, configuration profiles, and group management).
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy hardware and application updates.
  • Maintain ongoing documentation of systems, workflows, and technology standards.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments (Grants, Operations, Programs, etc.) to ensure technology supports departmental goals and workflows effectively.
  • Manage and continue building a robust cybersecurity infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular audits of security logs, incidents, and M365 reports (weekly).
  • Implement modern security solutions (MFA, VPNs, password managers, conditional access policies).
  • Recommend and manage risk mitigation measures aligned with best practices
  • Manage the relationship with the Managed Service Provider and conduct a thorough evaluation of the organization’s needs in line with its plans for growth
  • Manage all IT vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and performance.
  • Evaluate new IT platforms, infrastructure investments, and AV equipment needs.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical support needs beyond Tier 1 support.
  • Train and coach staff on technology best practices, security awareness, and workflow optimization.
  • Serve as an approachable, collaborative partner to all teams, ensuring seamless technology experiences.
  • Advise teams on how technology can optimize departmental workflows and support organizational priorities.
  • Lead change management efforts to support staff adoption of new systems and workflows, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Develop and maintain a 12-month IT roadmap aligned with organizational growth.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline systems, reduce shadow IT, and improve team workflows.
  • Ensure IT strategies reflect organizational culture and values, emphasizing collaboration, equity, and user-friendly design.
  • Participate in cross-departmental committees and strategic planning initiatives, ensuring security and technology considerations are integrated into organizational growth and future planning.
  • Support grantee and other external partners with IT training such as cybersecurity.
  • Think proactively about how technology supports and scales with organizational growth, recommending innovations and solutions that advance both efficiency and impact.
