About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Switchboards) to support engineering and execution of customer-specific switchboard orders. This role involves end-to-end mechanical engineering responsibilities, including layout review, component design, 3D modeling, BOM management, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams from order intake through production shipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong experience in switchboard or power distribution equipment design
  • Hands-on expertise with AutoCAD and 3D CAD modeling tools (Inventor preferred)
  • Experience with ETO (Engineer-to-Order) manufacturing environments
  • Solid understanding of BOM creation, validation, and ERP integration
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, NEMA , and relevant electrical/mechanical standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Siemens, ABB, Legrand, or Schneider switchboards
  • Exposure to ENOVIA , BidMan , Plant Order Manager
  • Manufacturing or shop-floor engineering support experience

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate switchboard order documentation from the Electrical COE team, including: Outline drawings Unit schedules Wiring diagrams BidMan quick prints AP requisitions
  • Maintain and update BidMan files with accurate cover and door dimensions aligned with current design standards.
  • Cross-check and validate Bills of Materials (BOM) in BidMan against Eaton design standards for Engineer-to-Order (ETO) switchboards.
  • Finalize BOMs in DA Mechanical and ensure smooth transfer to ERP systems for production planning.
  • Generate complete Manufacturing Information (MI) packages using: Bid Manager AutoCAD Plant Order Manager
  • Design custom fabricated components (bus bars, doors, covers, etc.) using AutoCAD and 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Create and release final BOMs from 3D models; release models and drawings in ENOVIA .
  • Release final drawing packages through Plant Order Manager .
  • Collaborate with customers, channel partners, Field Sales, and Eaton Care via plant visits, training sessions, and customer-facing events.
  • Support product line improvements by recommending updates to design standards and pick tables.
  • Provide hands-on support to assembly teams to resolve manufacturing, quality, and process inefficiencies.
  • Assist satellite plants with design reviews and implementation of new products.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards, including UL, NEC, NEMA, and OSHPD .
