UVIMCO is seeking an experienced professional to join the team who manages the day-to-day investment operations functions of UVIMCO. The Senior Operations Associate will work closely with other teams within UVIMCO and frequently with external groups including the University, investment managers, custodian banks, auditors, and other service providers. This position’s primary responsibilities include valuation of certain investment vehicles, cash flow management, transaction accounting and reconciliations, financial audit and tax reporting, and data management. The successful candidate will be collaborative in nature but be able to handle responsibilities with a high level of independence, demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize workflow. Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience and an advanced degree or certification (CPA or CFA)
  • Experience in institutional investment operations strongly preferred but candidates with a background in audit, tax, fund accounting/operations, treasury operations, or other areas of accounting/finance will be considered
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and be able to manage multiple activities accurately, efficiently, and independently
  • Ability to be highly flexible in a fast-paced environment with evolving job responsibilities and embracing new technology/systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Valuation of investments to strike the NAVs for the Long Term Pool and/or Short Term Pool, with minimal oversight
  • Participate in cash planning and processing for investment-related and shareholder cash flows
  • Provide comprehensive investment-related audit support and assist in the preparation of UVIMCO’s audited financial statements, regulatory, and tax filings
  • Ownership of assigned operations processes or strategies, ensure accuracy and timeliness in completion or review
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the daily, monthly, and annual operations timelines and responsibilities, be willing to pivot easily into new tasks when coverage is needed
  • Perform analysis of fund reporting, understand and interpret manager terms (including commitment, liquidity, management fees, incentive fees) and valuation policies to perform ongoing manager due diligence
  • Proactively review current processes and creatively identify potential process improvements to ensure that processes and data are managed appropriately and to mitigate potential risks
  • Analyze and update operations staff on applicable changes and proposed changes by investment managers and their effect on operations processes
  • Work closely with other internal teams to develop and execute projects
  • Proactively seek out ways to support the investment team with operational data and processes, understand how operations data is used across the organization
  • Serve as a resource and provide ad hoc reporting or work on special projects as directed
