About The Position

Voxel Innovations unlocks next-generation performance through Electrochemical Machining (ECM)—including pulsed and hybrid variants—to rapidly and precisely shape specialty metal alloys for aerospace, energy, industrial, AI, and medical customers. Our ~25–30 person team owns every step of the technology life-cycle, translating R&D into production under one roof. The Role Voxel Innovations is seeking a Senior/Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer to architect and scale the systems that ensure predictable, high-capability manufacturing as the Voxel grows. This position is full-time based in Knightdale, NC. This role goes beyond maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS). You will design the frameworks, processes, and data infrastructure that allow quality to be built into products and manufacturing processes from the beginning. You will work closely with engineering, production, and leadership to eliminate systemic sources of variation and create a manufacturing environment where doing the right thing is the easiest thing. This is not a “paper quality” role. You’ll be on the floor, designing the long-term quality system—translating quality principles into practical systems that work in a fast-moving precision manufacturing environment. Additionally, you’ll be building capability within our team by elevating those around you by teaching structured problem solving, disciplined engineering practices, and statistical thinking. You will play an active role in solving the core manufacturing quality issues as an individual contributor, and you will grow a quality team over time to support the scale of the business. As our customer base expands into regulated industries, you will also lead the evolution of our quality systems to meet standards such as ISO 13485 and AS9100 while maintaining operational speed and flexibility. About You You think in systems. You naturally see failure modes, gaps, and hidden risks in manufacturing environments—and you enjoy designing solutions that eliminate them permanently. You are equally comfortable discussing statistical process capability, manufacturing physics, and regulatory traceability. You combine deep technical rigor with practical execution , and you know how to build processes that people will actually use on the shop floor. You align with Voxel’s Core Values: Expect Excellence, Do Right By Others, Always Getting Better, What Would Happen If…

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • 15+ years in manufacturing quality engineering with deep experience improving manufacturing process capability.
  • Proven experience designing or scaling quality systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical methods including SPC, DOE, regression analysis, and Cp/Cpk analysis (Minitab, JMP, or equivalent).
  • Deep experience leading complex root cause investigations in multi-variable manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of precision manufacturing, inspection strategies, and GD&T interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and operate effectively in hands-on production environments.
  • Experience with direct reports.
  • Comfort working both strategically and hands-on within a production environment.
  • This position requires access to controlled information under U.S. export control laws. Therefore, applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).
  • Submittal of a cover letter describing why you are interested in working at Voxel and our mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in regulated or certified quality systems (ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Architect and evolve Voxel’s QMS, ensuring it scales with manufacturing growth while remaining practical for daily production use.
  • Drive manufacturing process capability by establishing control strategies, statistical monitoring, and structured improvement initiatives that reduce variation, scrap, and rework.
  • Lead systemic root cause analysis and corrective action, ensuring manufacturing and supplier issues are resolved permanently rather than repeatedly contained.
  • Design risk management frameworks including PFMEA, control plans, and process qualification approaches that proactively prevent manufacturing failures.
  • Establish supplier quality strategy, including supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and supplier-driven improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure successful transition of new products into production, building robust inspection strategies, process controls, and validation where required.
  • Lead internal and external quality engagement, including audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and customer quality interactions.
  • Build organizational capability in quality and disciplined manufacturing, mentoring engineers and technicians in structured problem solving and statistical thinking.
