Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Automation and Facility Electrical Specialist at our Hayward, CA location! This position would serve as the primary focal point for instrumentation and field automation reliability and improvement. In addition, this position would serve as the Hayward Site Electrical Representative, and help oversee the maintenance and reliability strategy of electrical systems in the Hayward plant. Provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Participates on maintenance team which supports reliability improvement across all Operations facilities. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Responsibilities/Duties: Process Control & Automation Specialist Performs calibration, tests, and repairs, as well as advanced troubleshooting on controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables. Provides technical expertise on equipment failures. Evaluates whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions. Ensures repair techniques, repair procedures, and electrical specific training are documented and filed with the plant and area maintenance group. Contributes to Facility Equipment Reliability Strategies. Owns “Top-10 Priority List” for Electrical / Instrumentation Reviews and adjusts preventative maintenance activities to assure reliability of equipment. Identifies critical spare parts for electrical and instrumentation. Develops effective MRO strategy for these parts Supports ongoing training of instrument and electrical skills for other mechanics and I&E technicians Develops working knowledge of facility Process Control system. Interfaces with Process Automation engineers to bridge gap between field instrumentation and process control systems. Executes small projects and supports ongoing continuous improvement efforts to upgrade and improve instrumentation and automation capabilities throughout the plant. Responsibilities: Facility Electrical Representative (FER) Serve as Subject Matter Expert for low and medium voltage electrical systems Electrical Focal Point for plant outages. Schedule services of outside Line Crew Address electrical findings from Electrical Safety and Reliability Assessment. Facilitate Electrical Work Process Audits. Dow Electrical Safe Work Practice focal point for site. Train new employees on electrical safety and Dow Electrical Safe Work practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • California general electrical certification
  • 5+ years' experience as an electrician, lineman, electrical technologist, electrical engineer, or other electrical related field.
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Code.
  • Must have experience with Transformers and Electrical Distribution.
  • Current, valid US driver’s license
  • Ability to support the site during off-hours on occasion
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field
  • 7+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrician in Plant Maintenance.
  • 5+ years of medium voltage experience.
  • Experience with Delta-V and PLC process control systems, instrument systems along with related I/O systems.
