About The Position

OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Global Events team is a dynamic and ethos-driven group dedicated to crafting one-of-a-kind and extraordinary experiences that encompass OpenAI’s values and mission. Our team is driven by a deep passion for shining the spotlight on others and bringing people together to connect in meaningful ways. We turn complex ideas into experiences that thousands of people can see, feel, and remember. We move fast, experiment often, and care deeply about craft. The details matter here — the pacing of a keynote, the moment a demo lands, the way a room feels when something important is revealed. If you love the magic of live production and the puzzle of making complicated things look effortless, you’ll feel at home here. We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Event Producer to join the Global Events team at OpenAI — someone who thrives in the controlled chaos of live production and knows how to turn ambitious ideas into beautifully executed experiences. In this role, you’ll help bring some of OpenAI’s most visible moments to life — including our annual flagship conference, OpenAI DevDay. You will also work on other large- and medium-scale events ranging from global launches, product-driven experiences, enterprise events, and entirely new formats we haven’t invented yet. You’ll partner closely with teams across product, marketing, research, and communications to translate big ideas into real-world productions that feel seamless, thoughtful, and distinctly OpenAI. As a Senior Producer, you’ll own the full production lifecycle — shaping concepts, building plans, managing vendors and partners, running timelines, and ensuring every detail lands with precision. This role sits at the intersection of creativity and operational excellence: equal parts builder, problem-solver, and calm presence when the stakes are high. Our team takes pride in craft, notices the small things others miss, and moves fast without sacrificing quality. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in live production, stage management, or agency-side event production, along with a curiosity about AI and how it will shape the way people gather, learn, and connect. This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid schedule (three days per week in office). Relocation support is available. Regular travel is expected (~30%).

Requirements

  • Have 10+ years of experience in production / stage management, event production, agency event management / production, or similar roles.
  • Experience producing large-scale conferences, product launches, or live productions with significant operational and technical complexity. We’re looking for experience leading on-stage and screen-based production for high-attendance events (1,000+), where precision, pacing, and audience experience are paramount.
  • Have a proven track record of managing multi-million dollar budgets.
  • Bring empathy and humor to high-pressure environments.
  • Are equal parts strategist and find joy in organizational wizardry, and operational excellence.
  • Find deep value in bringing your whole self to work, celebrating differences in perspectives, and prioritize bringing joy to the front of your projects.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy working across multiple events. You bring calm energy to chaotic moments and know how to keep a team moving forward when things get complicated.
  • Care about the craft of live production — the pacing of a show, the feel of a room, the small details most people never notice..
  • A strong working knowledge of full-stack event production including: conference and meeting planning, registration, attendee journey, stage production, immersive-activations, and catering.
  • Are equal parts builder, problem-solver, and collaborator. You can move from strategic planning to tactical execution without losing momentum.
  • A hunger and desire to innovate, while holding true to brand values.
  • Enjoy working with brilliant but busy stakeholders and know how to guide them toward great outcomes.
  • Enjoy finding innovative ways to use OpenAI tools and products to scale your team’s work.
  • Show a deep interest in artificial intelligence that benefits all of humanity.

You will track deliverables against timelines, keep teams aligned on priorities, and drive stakeholders to meet key milestones in an organized, scalable way.
  • Collaborate on event execution strategies: partner with event managers and business DRIs to shape event plans, align on vision, objectives, and goals to deliver impactful experiences.
  • Manage stage productions: oversee content production, stage management, and AV coordination, ensuring all aspects of stage execution — from rehearsals to live production — run seamlessly.
  • Support creative production: collaborate with creative teams to bring bold ideas to life, ensuring the vision is translated into every detail of the event. Manage creative vendors and partners onsite to deliver exceptional experiences.

  • Oversee detailed production timelines, project workbacks, and cross-team coordination.
