About The Position

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines. As a Senior Program Manager, you'll develop and run strategic programs, and utilize data analysis to support the execution of business strategies. You'll work with business leads and other partners to investigate business challenges and risk assessments, conduct data analysis to investigate hypotheses, and design and manage actionable solutions to ensure program progress and business impact. This role requires a unique combination of business acumen, project management, organizational effectiveness, data analytics, business strategy and communication skills. You will be challenged to leverage your skill set to solve complex emergent organizational and business problems. To be effective in this role, you must be an exceptional communicator with a bias to action, an agile and creative problem solver and able to build strong relationships and collaborate across functions. Your scope often spans organizational functions, offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it’s your job to connect the dots across the organization in order to ensure alignment and drive GEN-wide impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in business operations, program management, or similar role within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting program risks to identify root causes, and designing and implementing actionable solution plans.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and leading cross-functional or cross-team projects and programs.
  • Experience defining business requirements and driving operational efficiency (e.g., business strategy, data analysis, metrics and insights, process improvements.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Computer Science, Networking, or Engineering, or working within a technical environment.
  • Experience with organizational effectiveness and change management best practices.
  • Experience developing recommendations and influencing key decisions across business leadership and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience influencing the development of new software tools and process-based solutions.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly on new issues and work at high velocity in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation skills, including executive-level communication and visual representations of data.

Responsibilities

  • Translate ambiguous business needs into clear and measurable objectives and actionable processes or programs, lead initiatives to solve business issues across multiple functions and levels in the organization; drive change, influence decision making, and lead adoption of key business processes.
  • Troubleshoot program risks and obstacles, conduct root cause analyses across systems and organizational boundaries, formulate and test hypotheses, and propose solutions to ensure the success of critical programs.
  • Model adaptability and resilience, quickly ramping up on programs or initiatives as needed to provide program leadership or support as needed to mitigate risks, establish best practices, and drive progress.
  • Improve business execution by measuring performance, analyzing data for insights, and establishing program governance.
  • Collaborate effectively with partners and stakeholders across Google; represent Global Engineering Network’s business needs and influence software and process development decisions.
