The Senior Programmer & Dashboard Developer (SPDD) is the Foundation’s primary technical resource for developing reports and dashboards related to the Foundation’s CRM system. Related duties will include TSQL work on ETL processes supporting dashboard development, creating necessary stored procedures and other related database objects. In addition to report and dashboard work, the SPDD will respond to end-user data requests using TSQL to pull together result sets that are difficult or impossible for users or analysts to pull using the embedded query tool in the CRM system. This position requires strong customer service skills related to end-user interactions. The SPDD also works to continuously improve the data quality and integrity within the CRM database system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in dashboard development, preferably with Power BI.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL programming.
  • Champion for inclusive priorities both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency with: Development of dashboard visualizations (Power BI preferred) ETL design and deployment SQL (stored procedures, query optimization)
  • High level of motivation, as well as an ability to exercise independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar source control preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards visualizing fundraising performance, campaign progress, donor pipelines, alumni engagement, and other advancement KPIs. Work product must meet user defined requirements and internal specifications, be optimized for performance, and adhere to departmental standards.
  • Optimize Power BI datasets for performance, usability, and accuracy. Utilize DAX to enhance dataset transformation into actionable visualizations.
  • Maintain and document Power BI workspaces and apps, service settings, deployment, permissions, data refresh schedules, and related security.
  • Develop and maintain optimized TSQL queries and stored procedures, and integrate them into system processes, as appropriate, for the following: ETL data import and modification processes; data integrity processes and initiatives; business intelligence and analysis initiatives; and other database programming as assigned.
  • Create custom components using Blackbaud SDK to meet the business needs of the Foundation.
  • Collaborate with Foundation and University colleagues to identify and document end user requirements for new dashboard development.
  • Contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of the Division/Department’s development staff, by meeting or exceeding goals in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Model and articulate the Foundation’s organizational core values at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide visible leadership across the entire organization by engaging in organization-wide activities such as department meetings, all-staff meetings, and staff events.
