About The Position

FWI is building a team to provide clerical, administrative, and professional services as well as data management, document preparation, records management support services, and electronic records management to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). As a Senior Records Management Specialist, you will contribute to all areas of the records and information management program, taking on complex technical assignments independently and leading projects across the enterprise-wide inventory and file plan initiative, records appraisal and scheduling, digitization of legacy records, and training development. Position is contingent upon contract award Work Schedule and Location:On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, within 6am to 7pm at the GAO Headquarters in Washington, DC. Some hybrid work may be allowed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional Records and Information Management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an information or business discipline
  • Strong knowledge of records management best practices, including records appraisal, classification, and scheduling
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Excellent attention to detail, written communication skills, and organizational ability
  • Top Secret (TS) security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation
  • Specialized experience with federal records, including familiarity with NARA policies, the Federal Records Act (44 U.S.C., 36 CFR), and the General Records Schedule
  • Experience working with Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS)
  • Experience with digitization of analog records in compliance with NARA standards

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inventories of agency records, information, and data assets across GAO program offices
  • Appraise and classify records according to NARA-approved GAO Records Retention Schedules and the General Records Schedule (GRS)
  • Identify records not covered by existing retention schedules, document findings, and recommend appropriate retention categories
  • Support digitization planning and execution, including development of guidance, policies, and procedures in compliance with NARA standards
  • Apply proper metadata schema to electronic records and upload files to GAO's Electronic Records Management System (ERMS)
  • Assist in developing records and information management training materials, presentations, and how-to guides
  • Perform data entry, word processing, and complex searches across agency documents and systems
  • Prepare briefings, correspondence, reports, and other documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Participate in internal quality assurance reviews of all work products
