About The Position

We're in search of an exceptional Senior Research Associate I to join our Translational and Research Services Team. You'll be an integral part of a highly collaborative new team at 10x, focused on demonstrating the value of 10x products and providing top notch services to external customers. As a Senior Research Associate, you will be responsible for performing the analysis of biological tissue samples. This will involve supporting all aspects of the process, from sample intake, sample QC and assay performance, and initial analysis and QC of the data, ensuring the highest quality results are achieved throughout the entire process. The successful candidate in this position will work closely with expert scientists in cellular genetics and proteomics and will have the opportunity to participate in the development of high profile cutting edge tools in analytical biology. You bring a strong background in the biological sciences and have acquired significant experience in conducting single cell genomic assays, ideally using 10x Genomics product lines. You possess excellent communication skills, are detail oriented and can effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, integrating their feedback into your experimental design. Your high motivation, proactiveness, and adaptability allow you to navigate changing priorities and methods with ease. Thriving in fast-paced environments, you excel at managing multiple priorities, communicating clearly, and consistently delivering results.

Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent, in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 3+ years lab experience
  • Experience working in similar positions in an industry service provider/core facility
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and related equipment, including NGS library preparation workflows, flow cytometry, microscopy, high-throughput single cell genomics (e.g. QuantumScale, 10x Genomics Chromium assays)
  • A proven track-record of using, optimizing and troubleshooting molecular biology protocols
  • Strong customer service orientation, with a commitment to project success
  • Demonstrated flexibility in collaborating with cross-functional internal groups
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and structure your work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
  • Capacity for repetitive tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a variety of tissue types for single cell analysis (e.g., nuclei, PBMCs, complex neurological tissues)
  • Basic coding skills (Nextflow ideal)
  • Experience with image analysis using relevant analytical tools (e.g. CellProfiler, ImageJ)
  • Flow cytometry experience (e.g., BD FACS Melody, Sony Cell Analyzer, Agilent NovoCyte)
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting experience with liquid handling or automated systems (e.g. Integra, Biomek, Hamilton)
  • Familiarity with LIMS

Responsibilities

  • Perform single cell assays with a wide range of tissue inputs
  • Perform flow cytometry
  • Perform a variety of NGS library preparation workflows
  • Troubleshoot assays in collaboration with the assay team
  • Optimize protocols for specific tissue samples
  • Improve workflows and provide feedback to development and marketing teams
  • Deliver processed sequencing data to, and work closely with, computational biologists, project managers, and other scientific investigators
  • Generate and maintain meticulous laboratory records, SOPs, and batch records
  • Ensure work is conducted with appropriate quality controls
  • Manage sample receipt, tracking and storage
  • Forecast reagent and material needs for services
  • Operate and assist with the maintenance of lab equipment dedicated to services
  • Maintain a well organized lab and identify and implement efficiency improvements
