Our team, Sam’s Tech eCommerce is responsible for enabling next generation applications and platforms for our associates in clubs to empower them, drive efficiency and simplify day-to-day operations. As a Senior Software Engineer for Sam’s Tech eCommerce team, you will spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You’ll operate as a trusted advisor as it relates to efficiencies and best practices. What you’ll do: Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and enhancing the middleware to support experience teams. Work closely with product and design teams to optimize the experience for all platforms. Understand complex architecture and add any enhancements to the existing solutions. Write unit tests and improve code coverage for unit tests. Stay up to date with the latest GenAI trends and technologies and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve the member experience Participate in managing code & configurations for multiple environments, release management process, creating and maintaining environment configuration and controls, code integrity and work closely with platform team. Analyzing business requirements, develop code, support QA and similar steps of the scrum process, work in an agile development environment with a quick turnaround time and iterative builds. Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design Troubleshoots business, member facing and production issues Ensures inclusion of business vision and industry trends to enable results that drive business Problem solving and troubleshooting design and development issues and provide appropriate solutions Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams. Provide guidance and mentorship to the junior engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of development experience in middleware or BE area.
  • Excellent knowledge of GraphQL, Javascript, Node JS, Java.
  • Proven ability in implementing MVC MVVM architectures, best practices, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills memory management, threading, effective use of OS resources.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions and hands-on experience with distributed source code version control systems (Git/Github)
  • Experience with NoSQL Databases like Cosmos DB, Cassandra and ability to design and implement scalable data models.
  • Software development in an Agile CI/CD development environment.
  • Strong creative, collaboration and communication skills
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working in a large enterprise, with a global environment, across multiple time zones and geographies.
  • Familiarity with GenAI best practices, such as: Using AI-powered code analysis tools to improve code quality and maintainability. Implementing AI-driven testing frameworks to ensure robust testing and validation. Leveraging AI-based performance monitoring and optimization tools to improve system efficiency. Designing AI-enabled data pipelines to streamline data processing and analysis.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
