About The Position

To ensure the stability, performance, and availability of all production databases supporting SITA’s mission-critical applications and customer services. The DBA will play a key operational role, providing proactive monitoring, maintenance, and incident resolution in line with SITA’s service standards, ensuring seamless operations across global environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a production DBA or operational support role.
  • Certification in Oracle and MongoDB or SQL is mandatory.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-grade systems within a 24x7 operational setup.
  • Monitoring and management tools: Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Nagios and/or Dynatrace.
  • Strong understanding of database design, architecture, and operational management.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more major RDBMS platforms (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
  • Experience with high availability (HA), clustering, and replication setups.
  • Solid understanding of backup and recovery mechanisms, including RMAN or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for operational efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a high-pressure, mission-critical environment.
  • Degree in Computer Science; Electronic Engineering ; IT or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to aviation or telecommunications environments would be an asset.
  • Scripting and automation: Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl.
  • Backup and recovery solutions: RMAN, Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent enterprise-grade tools
  • Cloud and container technologies: AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Docker, Kubernetes (for modern database deployments).

Responsibilities

  • Provide Service Operations support to external customers in accordance with the terms of the customer contract and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)- Ensure the correct functioning and maintenance of all internal and external systems and products serviced by Service Operations.
  • Manage and maintain Production, DR, and QA databases across multiple environments (Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB etc.).
  • Perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning to ensure optimal database availability and efficiency.
  • Support 24x7 operations by responding to incidents, troubleshooting issues, and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Execute regular database backups, restorations, and disaster recovery activities aligned with business continuity requirements.
  • Apply patches, version upgrades, and configuration changes in accordance with approved change management processes.
  • Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with corporate and customer data protection policies.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and network teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Develop and maintain operational runbooks, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support service transition activities, ensuring smooth handover of new or upgraded systems into operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance windows when required.
