About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriting Operations Analyst Reporting to the Operations Manager, Hamilton Americas, to support our expanding Latin American Business. Working in Miami, you will support the Operations Manager, Hamilton Americas, to ensure all operational processes and objectives of our regional underwriting platform are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • 3 years of experience as an Underwriting Operations Analyst or a closely related insurance role.
  • 1 year of experience with:
  • contractual documentation issued by Underwriters.
  • agreements with reinsureds outlining obligations for accounting, policy, and claims systems.
  • outwards reinsurance.
  • tax legislation in LATAM and Europe.
  • financial/accounting principles for reinsurance.
  • validating profit-sharing (profit commission, sliding scale).
  • paid premium, risks written, loss reserves.
  • generating bordereaux; systems for booking premiums, claims, taxes, and commissions.
  • KPI analysis (technical result, combined and loss ratios).
  • financial modeling.
  • pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros.
  • Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting processes by managing complex data workflows, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with the company`s underwriting and operations teams to process business into the underwriting system in accordance with agreed guidelines, including but not limited to entering policy and treaty details for new, renewals, premium, and nonbearing premium endorsement transactions and any corrections needed to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the data.
  • Review and process into the company`s underwriting system all underwriting activity reported by customers including all premium, commission, tax, and claim amounts assumed by the carriers in respect to reinsurance treaty business.
  • Manage quarterly treaty statements, which involves the validation of premium, commission, taxes, and profit-sharing arrangements.
  • Collaborate closely with Claims underwriters in London, presenting all transactions reported in treaty statements to obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Set-up and maintain electronic policy files that contain all relevant documentation pertaining payments and accounts management such as payment of premium, claims, and other deductions.
  • Manage all reporting required by reinsurers/retrocessionaires for the outwards reinsurance treaty protecting the company`s surety book.
  • Support the Ceded Reinsurance Team in London by ensuring accurate information is conveyed to reinsurers.
  • Support the Latin American Business, ensuring all operational processes and objectives of the regional underwriting platform are met.
  • Assist the carriers for any query raised in respect to business bookings, bordereaux, claims, and related matters when required.
  • Monitor all relevant reports to ensure that the company`s underwriting activity data is properly recorded into the underwriting systems of the carriers and liaise with them and finance team to ensure alignment.
  • Produce ad hoc reports and presentations as requested.
  • Ensure that all contact and identifying information pertaining the customers and brokers are entered and remain updated into the company’s underwriting system.
  • Assist in the planning and management of the migration of legacy (Ironshore) business into SKi. Assist in the training of other team members.
  • Support Claims Operations as needed and during critical periods.
