About The Position

The Server interacts with guests and ensures that they have a great experience when dining at the Cleveland Metroparks facility. The Server is responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Must be age 19 or older.
  • Must complete ServSafe program.
  • Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and/or understand labels.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
  • Must be available to work a variable schedule to include, mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior serving experience is preferred.
  • Basic restaurant operation knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks.
  • Greets all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
  • Stays updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of items, etc.
  • Provides excellent customer service including suggesting dishes, assisting in drink selection, informing customers about food preparation details, communicating specific customer needs to the cooks.
  • Maintains proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering deserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Prepares non-alcohol drinks for service to customer table.
  • Obtains payment for meals and adheres to all cash handling procedures.
  • Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Assists with special events as needed.
  • Provide guidance to guests on Cleveland Metroparks activities and other regional information.
  • Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
