Job PurposeThe Service Estimator provides bids and proposals for the Critical Facilities Power and Construction business. This position works with client, Sales, Engineering and Operations staff to determine scopes of work, to gather bid cost data from internal and external sources, to assemble final bids, and to work with Sales to present offers to clients.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in a technical field from an accredited university, or a High School Diploma with equivalent field experience including 2 years technical training.
  • Five years of experience estimating scopes of work including AC and DC Electrical Power, Grounding, and Building Construction trades.
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Suite applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Good communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, and methods.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to visualize solutions in three-dimensional space.
  • Ability to work CAD softwares such as Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Able to travel overnight an average of 20% and with periods of 100% per week.
  • Able to operate a company vehicle. Must be able to pass company and governmental driving requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project proposals in a timely manner and in accordance with policies, systems, and procedures; projects range from fully defined (conventional “Bid-Build” Projects) to conceptual (alternative procurement such as “Design-Build” Projects).
  • Work efficiently with corporate customers to perform site surveys, create field sketches, make notes of planned work, transfer scopes of work and scaled plans into bid documents.
  • Perform take-offs from bid documents, project prints and plans to develop accurate project cost estimates.
  • Support Engineering and Operations with project design, construction, and costing details.
  • Support Sales to capture new business, to cultivate customer relationships, to identify opportunities, and to deliver consistent, high-quality proposals.
  • Advise and assist in negotiating proposals.
  • Advise and assist in identifying and managing business risks on opportunities.
