About The Position

Position: Sewer Technician/Drain Cleaner Reports To: Utilities Manager Purpose The Sewer Technician is responsible for cleaning storm and sewer lines, identifying and troubleshooting issues, accurately locating problem areas, and effectively communicating with homeowners and supervisors. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of storm and sewer systems, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Requires a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability to pass a background check.
  • The role demands physical stamina, dexterity, and the capacity to handle heavy objects (up to 75lbs) and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning storm and sewer lines by utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to remove blockages, debris, and other obstructions.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of storm and sewer lines to identify potential problems.
  • Troubleshooting issues encountered during inspections and implementing suitable solutions to rectify them promptly.
  • Utilizing locating equipment to accurately identify problem areas within storm and sewer lines.
  • Communicating identified issues with homeowners, providing clear explanations of problems, and collaborating with supervisors to prepare accurate bids and estimates for customers.
  • Maintaining detailed records of work performed, including inspection reports, cleaning logs, and repair recommendations.
  • Adhering to job safety practices and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Demonstrating conscientiousness in handling and maintaining equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, storage, and regular maintenance.
  • Maintaining a professional and customer-oriented approach during interactions with homeowners, colleagues, and office staff.
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the overall functioning of the organization.
