About The Position

The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality
  • Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics
  • Adhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensing
  • Understand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organization
  • Demonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelter
  • Assist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean-up
  • Assure the shelter area is kept clean and orderly
  • Assure residents follow shelter policies and procedures
  • Transport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical care
  • Facilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelter
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
  • You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire.
  • Birthday off with pay.
  • Paid holidays are effective immediately
