About The Position

Shipping & Receiving Lead The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for coordinating and supporting daily logistics operations within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on leadership for material flow, shipping accuracy, receiving inspections, and inventory control involving aerospace fittings and raw materials such as bar stock and forgings. The Lead ensures compliance with aerospace AS9100 quality standards, safety regulations, Osha regulations and on-time delivery emphasizing speed and accuracy, while supporting team productivity and cross-department coordination.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in manufacturing
  • Prior lead or team leadership experience preferred
  • Experience handling raw materials (bar stock, forgings, metal components)
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP inventory systems
  • Strong understanding of material traceability and documentation control
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Strong organization and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards
  • Experience with export compliance and international shipping
  • Hazmat shipping familiarity
  • Lean manufacturing or 6S experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day shipping and receiving activities across assigned shifts
  • Assign tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure team productivity with constant follow up.
  • Provide hands-on support in material handling and logistics operations
  • Train and mentor material handlers and logistics personnel
  • Serve as point of contact in supervisor’s absence
  • Coordinate outbound shipments to customers, processors, and suppliers
  • Verify accuracy of pick lists, packing slips, certifications, and bills of lading
  • Ensure proper packaging and labeling of aerospace fittings and components
  • Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to meet delivery schedules
  • Support domestic and international shipping requirements in Customs documentation.
  • Oversee receipt of raw materials including:
  • Bar stock
  • Forgings
  • Aerospace hardware and components
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing documentation
  • Coordinate receiving inspections with Quality team
  • Ensure proper material identification, traceability, and lot control
  • Route materials to correct staging, stock, or production areas
  • Maintain system accurate through inventory transactions within ERP/MRP system
  • Support cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Ensure FIFO material rotation and proper storage practices are followed.
  • Monitor staging areas to maintain organized material flow and safety clearance.
  • Ensure adherence to aerospace quality standards and customer requirements
  • Support AS9100 and NADCAP documentation controls
  • Maintain chain-of-custody and traceability records
  • Follow hazardous material handling procedures where applicable
  • Partner with:
  • Production Planning
  • Quality Assurance
  • Procurement
  • Manufacturing teams
  • Escalate material shortages or shipment risks promptly
  • Enforce safety protocols and material handling procedures
  • Ensure proper forklift operation and equipment use
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready department.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across logistics operations
