About The Position

Silver Star Construction, a local road construction company - is seeking a Shop Mechanic with the requirements, duties, responsibilities, and skills to inspect and repair vehicles and heavy equipment.

Requirements

Detailed oriented
Communication - shop mechanics work in a collaborative environment, which requires strong verbal communication skills.
Time-management - shop mechanics use time-management skills to perform many tasks within a tight deadlines and maintain maintenance schedules for all equipment and vehicles
Ability to read various measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches
Driving - shop mechanics must know how to operate and drive multiple types of vehicles.
Physical ability - shop mechanics lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, crouch, and crawl to perform their job duties, all of which require physical ability.
Must pass the background check, drug screen/physical
Must be willing to work indoor/outdoor in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Must be able to work overtime when required
Must adhere to safety requirements and procedures

Responsibilities

Order and assist in testing and commissioning of products
Run diagnostic tools and repair procedures to isolate issues with vehicles or equipment
Inspect equipment, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic test to discover functionality issues
Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
Troubleshoot using hydraulic and/or electrical schematics
Completes repair tickets showing work completed/performed and any follow-up required
