About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Field Supervisor to oversee drywall installation and finishing in residential construction, primarily single-family homes. This position requires a strong understanding of drywall construction, quality control, safety compliance, and customer communication. The Field Supervisor is responsible for inspecting, coordinating, and verifying each phase of the drywall process—from frame walk to post-production service work—ensuring all work meets company, customer, and city code standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in residential drywall or construction supervision
  • Strong knowledge of drywall installation, finishing, and texturing practices
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and builder specifications
  • Proficient with mobile apps or tools for documentation and photo reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Experience working with national or regional homebuilders preferred
  • Familiarity with safety compliance (OSHA standards) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Frame Walk
  • Walk homes to inspect framing, plumbing protection, stud condition, window/tub status, and overall cleanliness.
  • Verify board delivery and count per floor.
  • Check for damaged or defective drywall materials.
  • Confirm all safety measures are in place (rails, plates, screw patterns).
  • Revisit homes to ensure frame punch items are completed.
  • Report findings with photos and detailed documentation to customers and internal teams.
  • Drywall Hanging Oversight
  • Clearly mark electrical boxes, HVAC, and low-voltage points on drywall (excluding polished concrete areas).
  • Walk homes with hanging crew to ensure proper board installation and corner bead placement.
  • Verify compliance with builder/city standards (e.g., screw pattern, water-resistant board placement).
  • Ensure all debris and trash are cleaned by hangers.
  • Finishing Supervision
  • Inspect hanging quality and walk homes with finishers.
  • Identify and correct poor joints, tape issues, angles, and surface defects.
  • Verify all penetrations are properly cut out.
  • Enforce cleanup of all finisher-related debris.
  • Sanding Phase
  • Evaluate final quality of drywall finish.
  • Ensure appropriate sandpaper and equipment are used for different surface types.
  • Monitor sanding lighting conditions, especially in low-visibility areas.
  • Confirm proper use of sponges where needed.
  • Oversee post-sanding floor cleanup (scraping and sweeping).
  • Texture Application
  • Confirm sanding completion and finish quality prior to texture.
  • Clearly identify and mark any areas designated for wallpaper.
  • Walk homes with texture contractors to confirm decorative finish plans.
  • Post-Production Service Work
  • Prepare homes for final decoration following sanding.
  • Negotiate chargeable items (Code 13) with builders as needed.
  • Monitor service technicians' work quality, timing, and completion.
  • Supervise service work and document all completed repairs.
  • Safety and Communication
  • Enforce company and site-specific safety policies at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with builders, crews, and internal staff.
  • Recognize variations in builder requirements and scope of work.
