This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the commissioning, startup, and operation of a new sophisticated facility from the ground up.     The SIS Engineer provides support and lifecycle management for Instrumented protective systems including SIS, ESS, BMS and IPL’s. The SIS Engineer works closely with the daily operations of olefins, polyethylene, and utilities units and provides support for IPS and IPL related maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization and project implementation so the producing assets can run safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role focuses on assisting with maintenance activities, performing basic SIS system checks, supporting documentation and testing efforts, gathering process data, and contributing to safety and commissioning activities. Initially this position will be ensuring the plant is properly commissioned and supporting a safe, orderly, and timely start-up of the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in instrumentation or control systems.
  • Basic understanding of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) principles, including Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).
  • Familiarity with safety standards like IEC 61511 and ANSI/ISA 84.
  • Exposure to industrial automation systems and basic programming knowledge for logic solvers.
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and cause/effect diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of field instruments and sensors used in process safety.
  • Certification in safety or control systems (e.g., TÜV Rheinland SIS Certification).
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV (DCS/SIS)
  • Working knowledge of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), logic narratives, electrical schematics, and related documentation
  • Polyethylene/Ethylene experience

Responsibilities

  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position.
  • Assists maintenance in troubleshooting in order to maintain continuity of production.
  • Ensures repair techniques, repair procedures, and equipment specific training are documented and made available.
  • Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
  • Helps monitor the completion of action plans to reduce and eliminate identified gaps and risks.
  • Assist in gathering process data for SIS design and operation.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs and cause-and-effect diagrams.
  • Support in testing and commissioning activities for SIS components.
  • Document system configurations and maintain compliance records.
  • Perform basic system checks on sensors, logic solvers, and final control elements.
  • Participate in safety studies like HAZOP and LOPA as a contributor.
  • Participare in FAT, SAT and HAT
  • Assist senior engineers with routine maintenance tasks.
