The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Assistant Superintendent at the Mt. Vernon Game Farm for the Office of Land Management. This position will operate trucks, tractors, mowers, and other equipment; prepare detailed technical reports to assess the effectiveness of new or existing game farm disease control programs; prepare administrative forms and record keeping essential to the operation of the farms such as mortality reports, grain reports, weight gain and physical measurements of birds; assign hunters to hunting areas; supervise planting and cultivation of wildlife food plots; trap and transport pheasants to sites where hunts are conducted; oversee buildings, picking up trash, and cleaning toilets within the park; supervise and schedule mowing, weed eating, and chemical application for aesthetics within the day use areas. The Mt. Vernon Game Farm's topography is rolling, with a wide range of diverse habitats. These include, timbered hills, prairie grass, and old field patches, ponds, creek bottoms, and agricultural fields. This area also includes two smaller ponds and an 8 acre wetland and creek that flows through the south side of the property.
