The Wall Street Journal is looking for a social video editor to help guide our short-form vertical videos. As part of our social media team, you will edit scripts, give substantive edits to our producers and help manage the workflow of our vertical videos for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Snapchat. You will work with journalists around the newsroom to guide our social video that showcases the best of WSJ for new and existing audiences. You will be involved in all steps of production: conceptualization, scripting, shooting, editing and distributing. This team works directly with reporters and editors, as well as our video team to create engaging short, social-first breaking news, features and original videos. You should be a self-starter who understands the needs of audiences across multiple platforms and is able to work independently under deadline pressure. Dedication to high journalism standards and excellent video editing skills are required. You should have experience with video editing software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe InDesign and/or other relevant tools. Animation skills are a plus. You should also have deep knowledge of video-driven social platforms. The ideal candidate will be comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, and can pivot from an evergreen feature to a quick turn piece within a day. You will be based in our New York office and will report to the Social Strategy Editor. To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining how you would approach the job by April 16. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage early submissions as the position may be filled before the deadline.
