Software CI/CD Engineer Intern, Viasat Government

What you'll do We are seeking a CI/CD Automation Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions for automated deployment, testing, and system provisioning. You will build and manage infrastructure-as-code using Ansible, Terraform, and similar tools, and create automated test environments that simulate production-like systems for performance and scale testing. The day-to-day You will work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot system issues, improve system reliability, and deploy updates. Your role will also involve developing and maintaining tooling and scripts in Python and Bash. Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.
Requirements
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or a related field
- To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
- Internship Dates: You must be available to work 40 hours /week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Li mited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 - August 14, 2026 Cohort 2: June 22 , 202 6 - September 18, 2026
- Citizenship: This position requires U.S. Citizenship OR U.S. permanent resident status
- Additional: Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and/or Git
- Strong scripting ability with Python and/or Bash
- Familiarity with Ansible and/or similar tool
- A strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting network protocols (DHCP, DNS, firewall rules, VPNs, etc.)
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on experience in automated testing, including integration and system-level testing
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience working on Agile/Scrum-based DevOps teams
