DESCRIPTION APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Work closely with product owners and app owners to establish SLOs, identify areas of improvement across the app suite and support the roll out of new features across multiple regions and Geos. Manage offshore and onsite support team in handling queries and problems reported by users from Apple stores. Provide operational excellence by ensuring the highest levels of performance and availability across retail store apps. Restore critical services and provide the highest quality of customer support. Build robust monitoring and alerting systems for our suite of apps. Review application design, identifying SLO and SLA for micro-services and build tools to measure and improve metrics. Manage pilot roll out of application to Apple retail stores across the world and build systems to collect feedback. Represent the Ops team on key engineering releases and features, ensuring operational readiness and communicating deployment and mitigation planning to all collaborators. Diagnose and mitigate critical failures in high pressure situations. Perform deep dives and root cause analysis as needed. Develop strong cross-functional relationships with business partners, Engineering, Quality Engineering and Retail Store field team. Tackle, research, analyze, and diagnose complicated technical issues by diving into backend systems and logging. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 - $272,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: Using Linux shell Scripts to improve deployment infrastructure and processing.
  • Using Load Balancers, DNS, Nginx to ensure reliable traffic routing, fast failover, and prevention of silent outages across distributed systems
  • Using SQL (e.g. Oracle, Postgres), NoSQL datastore (e.g. Couchbase, Cassandra), messaging (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ) and search technologies (e.g. Solr, Elastic Search).
  • Managing Configuration management using Ansible, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Monitoring large scale production and troubleshooting as on-call support team.
  • Using Docker, Jenkins, GitOps principles for CI/CD implementation
  • Utilizing Web and REST for Micro services application architecture including Java and Tomcat.
  • Using cloud vendors including AWS, GCP, or AliCloud to manage application deployments and maintain infrastructure
  • Utilizing Kubernetes to execute brand new application stacks and lift and shift of existing cloud applications
