Your Impact As an Software Engineer II, you will design and implement complex features and components that enable autonomous DFR operations and the integrations that make them effective in the field. You’ll work across Axon Evidence, Axon Fusus, Dedrone Beyond, and partner platforms like Skydio to build reliable, secure, and scalable services that deliver situational awareness to first responders within minutes of an incident. Your work will directly advance Axon’s moonshot goal to cut gun‑related deaths between police and the public by 50% over the next decade. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Four or more years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience designing and delivering highly available, scalable cloud‑based systems.
  • Backend service experience in Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar.
  • Experience with SQL or NoSQL data stores and operational practices (monitoring, SLOs).
  • Proven ability to ramp into unfamiliar codebases and deliver reliable results.
  • Strong communicator who can gather requirements from field and product teams and translate them into actionable work.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver complex features and APIs that power DFR workflows and partner integrations.
  • Contribute to team architecture and design; propose pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
  • Drive cross‑team collaboration for feature delivery—clarify requirements, surface risks, and coordinate dependencies with Product and other engineering teams.
  • Raise the technical bar through rigorous code and design reviews and strong testing practices.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers; share practical knowledge and best practices.
  • Improve team planning and execution rhythms—help estimate work, decompose epics, and reduce delivery friction.
  • Build services that meet standards for availability, latency, security, and operability.
  • Work with modern open‑source technologies and cloud platforms; iterate quickly on prototypes toward production readiness.
