Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Owned multi‑year technical roadmaps for enterprise or startup systems—setting vision, prioritizing investments, and guiding architecture-to-scale execution.
  • Proven experience delivering production systems that integrate hardware, edge, and cloud components for time‑sensitive operations.
  • Strong experience with backend services and languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores and operational practices (monitoring, SLOs).
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction and mentor senior engineers.
  • Entrepreneurial drive — you own outcomes, balance rapid delivery with pragmatic validation (experiments, customer feedback) to ship high‑impact solutions.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and driving solutions end-to-end.
  • Able to rapidly understand unfamiliar codebases and deliver durable solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience launching startups a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own backend systems and integration layers that connect drones, edge processing, and cloud services (e.g., evidence ingestion, telemetry, live video routing, cataloging).
  • Implement features that enable rapid autonomous deployments (dispatch, mission state, failover) and that satisfy stringent operational requirements (latency, availability, security, and auditability).
  • Develop and harden interfaces between Axon products and partner systems, ensuring secure data exchange and near‑real‑time interoperability.
  • Define and implement observability, KPIs, and incident playbooks for DFR services
  • Mentor senior engineers, lead cross‑team design reviews, and help establish engineering standards for mission‑critical robotic systems.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership—and cross‑functional stakeholders—to capture real field workflows and constraints, turn them into crisp requirements, and drive technical designs and roadmaps that stick.
  • Drive multi‑team execution: align priorities and dependencies across org boundaries, unblock delivery, and strengthen the planning and operating rhythms that let teams ship together.
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery for cross‑team initiatives—from discovery through launch—including sprint/epic planning, release orchestration, and high‑quality artifacts (release notes, runbooks), plus customer‑facing demos and field readiness.
  • Support commercialization and scaling efforts (BVLOS readiness, airspace awareness, cost‑effective operations) through pragmatic engineering tradeoffs and prototype iterations.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Fitness Programs
  • Emotional & Development Programs
