About The Position

The Solutions Analyst will help support the development of KCI’s hardware and prototyping capabilities within the Enterprise Technology team. This is a hands-on, interdisciplinary role focused on hardware integration, embedded systems, field deployment of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and sensor payloads, and other emerging technologies that can help KCI deliver high-performance and cost-effective solutions for our clients. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to help design, build, test, and maintain the hardware systems that connect our physical project sites to our digital engineering workflows. This role is ideal for an early-career analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware and software, likes solving real-world problems, and is excited about learning while contributing to something new.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field is required.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Solutions Analyst or similar role
  • Experience in utilities, facilities, transportation, water, and/or state/local government markets is strongly preferred
  • Experience with software development methodologies and systems engineering
  • Knowledgeable of APIs, distributed backend systems, dimensional data modeling, SQL queries and schema design is preferred
  • Experience with cloud technologies is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience to learn quickly and apply new technologies to solve problems
  • Ability to develop and maintain deep knowledge of customers, data, business, and markets
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with colleagues and customers, both written and oral
  • The ideal candidate is self-directed, driven to learn, motivated by challenges, and can function in both clarity and ambiguity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotic autonomy stacks, sensor fusion, or navigation systems (GPS, IMU, SLAM).
  • Familiarity with ROS or ROS2 for hardware abstraction and system integration.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Exposure to LiDAR, depth cameras, or other geospatial sensor technologies.
  • Experience with PCB design, soldering, CNC technologies, and mechanical prototyping.
  • Understanding of GIS concepts and geospatial data formats.
  • Interest in or coursework related to civil infrastructure, environmental science, or construction technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assembling, configuring, calibrating, and maintaining drone platforms and sensor payloads (LiDAR, thermal, multispectral, photogrammetry)
  • Support integration of sensors and hardware components, including basic embedded systems work (UART, CAN, I²C, SPI)
  • Help troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and connectivity issues during testing and field deployment
  • Support setup and maintenance of ground stations, communication links, and data transfer workflows
  • Assist in prototyping simple hardware components such as mounts, wiring harnesses, or enclosures
  • Contribute to technical documentation including SOPs, hardware configurations, and maintenance logs
  • Help evaluate new drone platforms, sensors, and supporting technologies as the program grows
  • Support FAA Part 107 and 108 compliance efforts and internal UAS procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering and field teams to support data collection for geospatial deliverables
  • Other software- and hardware-related tasks as required.
