Greater New Bedford Regional Voc Tech High School Special Education Teacher 10 Month Position (185 days) 2026-2027 School Year PLEASE NOTE THAT MULIPLE POSITIONS MAY BE HIRED FROM THIS POSTING, IF NECESSARY Position Purpose : This position provides instruction to students requiring special services. Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Maintain continuous evaluation of student progress This position is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; performs all other related work as required. Essential Functions: Develops and maintains an environment conducive to effective learning. Develops an appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP) for all students that are determined eligible for special education services. This includes the creation of goals and benchmarks, based on assessment data and targeted curriculum standards, for the students’ areas of identified disability. For annual reviews, initial evaluations, and reevaluations, writes and implements IEP goals and objectives and provides timely and regular progress reports. Chairs annual review Team meetings. Provides needed accommodations for student learning and testing when If needed, participate and assist in the collection of student work in preparation for MCAS Alternative Assessment to assure progress and development. Works collaboratively with school staff in order to implement IEPs. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning the broad academic, social-emotional, and behavioral progress of assigned students. Participates in/follows all federal and state mandated procedures and timelines for the identification of students requiring special education services within the school setting. Maintains compliance with all federal and state mandated timelines for the completion of special education paperwork. Conducts academic testing for initial evaluations and reevaluations, Provides assistance with transition services, as appropriate. Works with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are provided in the general education setting. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Evaluates student progress on a continuing basis. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy. Is available to meet with students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Participates in staff and faculty meetings. Participates in the evaluation process. Performs other duties as needed.
