About The Position

Responsible for various accounting department functions, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and analysis to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Three (3) or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant or similar role
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and resolve problems independently

Responsibilities

Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
Ensures timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepares and reviews journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts
Analyzes financial statements and variances to identify discrepancies and support decision-making
Ensures compliance with GAAP and adherence to internal controls and financial policies
Assists with budgeting and forecasting processes
Supports internal and external audits and coordinates required documentation
Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows
Provides guidance and support to junior accounting staff
Collaborates with other departments to support financial operations and initiatives
Consistent and reliable on-site attendance
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
