The Department of Revenue, headquartered in Raleigh, is an executive agency charged with the administration and enforcement of the State’s tax laws. The Department is headed by the Secretary of Revenue who has statutory responsibility for all Departmental operations. To assist him or her, the Secretary has a DOR Executive Leadership Team consisting of a Chief Deputy, Chief Information Officer, General Counsel, Director of Taxpayer Advocate and several other direct reports; each with specific duties, responsibilities and areas of expertise. The Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the N.C. Department of Revenue must be results driven with a demonstrated dedication to accuracy and excellence. The position is responsible for providing executive support by managing the day-to-day operation on behalf of the Assistant Secretary of Tax Administration to include managing administrative functions and establishing administrative procedures and guidelines to streamline efficiency. Work involves the performance of administrative duties involving decision-making and judgment. This position requires contact with program staff, managers of other units within the organization as well as representatives of other state agencies and vendors.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of program services, policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations; ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in performance of administrative support tasks; ability to explain and interpret program information
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; determines course of action; develops appropriate solutions
  • Ability to develop ideas into plans of action and to coordinate the actions through implementation
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to edit, adjusting language or terminology to meet needs of the audience or as appropriate; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure
  • Ability to provide direction to others and compile, assimilate, organize, and analyze printed and electronic information
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
