About The Position

At Warner Music Group, we’re a global collective of music makers and music lovers, tech innovators and inspired entrepreneurs, game-changing creatives and passionate team members. Here, we turn dreams into stardom and audiences into fans. We are guided by three core values that underpin everything we do across all our diverse businesses: Curiosity: We do our best work when we’re immersing ourselves in culture and breaking through barriers. Curiosity is the driving force behind creativity and ingenuity. It fuels innovation, and innovation is the key to our future. Collaboration: Making music and bringing it to the world is all about the power of originality amplified by teamwork. A great idea, like a great song, travels globally. We ignite passions and build connections across our diverse community of artists, songwriters, partners, and fans. Commitment: We pursue excellence for our team and our talent. Everything in music starts with a leap into the unknown, and we’re committed to keeping the faith, acting with integrity, and delivering on our promises. WMG is home to a wide range of artists, musicians, and songwriters that fuel our success. That is why we are committed to creating a work environment that actively values, appreciates, and respects everyone. We encourage applications from people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Consider a career at WMG and get the best of both worlds – an innovative global music company that retains the creative spirit of a nimble independent. Warner Records is seeking a Senior Analyst, Data & Research to serve as the technical backbone of our data operations. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role designed for a "builder" who thrives on autonomy and speed. You will be responsible for moving beyond basic reporting into the realm of predictive science. You will build the models that forecast hits, the scripts that bypass corporate bottlenecks, and the insights that give our artists a measurable edge. You aren’t just looking at data; you are engineering the tools that help Warner Records win.

Requirements

  • The Technical Core: You are highly proficient in Python (Pandas, Scikit-Learn) and SQL. You are comfortable navigating Big Data environments and building complex Data Models.
  • Analytical Rigor: You have a background in Data Science or Machine Learning and know how to move beyond "vanity metrics" to find the signal in the noise.
  • Agility & Prototyping: You are a "hacker" at heart. If a tool doesn’t exist, you can build a script or a beta version to get the job done today.
  • Communication: You can bridge the gap between "Dev talk" and "Music talk." You can explain a model's confidence interval to a Marketing Manager in a way that helps them make a better decision.
  • Industry Passion: You live and breathe music and understand the nuances of the modern digital landscape (TikTok trends, playlisting algorithms, and global streaming shifts).

Nice To Haves

  • Programming: Python (Primary), SQL (Expert)
  • Data Science: Machine Learning, Time-Series Forecasting, Data Modeling, AI Integration
  • Infrastructure: Experience with Big Data tools (BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar)
  • Visualization: Ability to build clean, intuitive visualizations via Tableau, Looker, or Python-based tools (Streamlit/Dash)

Responsibilities

  • Build & Deploy Forecasting Models: Develop and maintain scalable models to predict streaming trends, sales velocity, and chart trajectories. You will turn raw historical data into actionable projections for marketing and A&R.
  • Advanced Statistical Analysis: Apply Data Science methodologies (Regression, Clustering, ML) to our existing data stacks to refine how we measure artist growth and audience engagement.
  • Rapid Prototyping (The "Skunkworks" Lab): Develop ad-hoc data solutions, custom dashboards, and PoCs (Proof of Concepts) to solve immediate label challenges faster than centralized IT cycles allow.
  • Metadata & Pipeline Collaboration: Work directly with the DataOps team to ensure 3rd-party metadata (from DSPs and social platforms) is ingested correctly and structured for high-level analysis.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as the NYC label’s technical representative. You will translate label needs into technical requirements for WMG’s Global Tech and Product teams and help beta-test new internal tools.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Generate data-driven "advantages" by identifying market gaps and performance trends that allow Warner Records to outperform competitors and sister labels.
