About The Position

Job Purpose: Provide leadership for patient care services which facilitates staff interactions with Hospital Administration and medical staff to assure effective and efficient delivery of quality patient care consistent with the mission and vision of USMD Hospital at Arlington. oversees ICU, Inpatient, Emergency, RN Float Pool, and House Supervisors. Reports to the CEO/CNO Minimum Requirements Education & Training: master’s degree and bachelor’s degree required in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration or related degree. One of which must be in Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing Administration preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS required or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Current registration as RN in State of Texas or compact. Specialty certification required. Work Experience: Minimum of five years of clinical practice, participation in a leadership role in nursing staff organization activities, and through management experience within a healthcare delivery system. Five years of progressive management experience. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the management and leadership of assigned clinical departments directly influencing the delivery of patient care.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable national, state and local laws and regulations, The Joint Commission, Texas Department of Health and other regulatory requirements affecting the nursing, medical and allied health staff.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in the areas of strategic planning, strategy execution and implementation of care management programs.
  • Oversees, directs and supports the rendering of patient care management decisions that maximize benefits for customers while pursuing and supporting organizational objectives.
  • Monitors effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators using data such as turnover rates, HCAHPS, absenteeism, budget variance, patient, MD, and staff satisfaction surveys.
  • Acts as a liaison between administration, nursing and USMD medical staff.
  • Participates in professional organizations and represents the hospital in a professional, competent manner in the community.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination of the intra-department activities and inter-department integration.
  • Assures the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of nursing practice.
  • Assesses and communicates recommendations for utilization of space, space needs, equipment, personnel and other resources as needed.
