Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the Bay City Service Center located in Bay City, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for engineering and design to support the sustainable operation of our distribution, generation, and storage system. The incumbent works with teams across the organization and external stakeholders, and leads complex technical projects and may manage the work of lower level engineers and technicians as required. A Senior Electrical Engineer in the Low Voltage Distribution (LVD) Substation Planning department is essentially responsible for owning their assigned substations. Responsibilities include short- & long-term capacity planning, short- & long-term reliability planning, assistance with failure events, responses to customer inquiries, engineering support of substation construction projects, and solving other complex problems involving LVD substations as they arise. The Senior Electrical Engineer is also responsible to provide support to many other areas of the company including Substation Design, LVD Lines Planning and Design, Project Management, System Protection, HVD New Business & Capacity Planning, Economic Development, Rates, the Energy Solutions Management Group, and Interconnection Agreements & Programs. The Senior Electrical Engineer in LVD Substation Planning will also be highly involved with the entirety of the generator interconnection process, including review of generator interconnection applications and performing System Impact & Facilities Studies. The Senior Electrical Engineer is expected to work with minimal supervision, help train & support other members of the group, and represent the company at both internal & customer meetings.
