Position Overview The Senior Epic Application Analyst will lead the design, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic applications, with a primary focus on MyChart and Cheers. This role is responsible for driving complex system enhancements, upgrades, and performance improvements while ensuring alignment with clinical, operational, and business requirements. As a senior‑level subject matter expert and primary escalation point for application end‑users, the Senior Epic Application Analyst will independently identify and resolve complex issues within the application area, as well as issues impacting upstream and downstream Epic applications. This role partners closely with cross‑functional IT teams, clinical stakeholders, and vendors to ensure stable, scalable, and high‑quality solutions. The Senior Epic Application Analyst performs advanced impact analysis for proposed changes, leads build and testing efforts, validates solutions across environments, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve platform performance, user experience, and end‑to‑end business workflows. In addition, this role may provide mentorship to less‑experienced analysts and contribute to best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Epic ecosystem. This is a Madison, WI based hybrid role with an onsite expectation of at least three days a week in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 12 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience developing or configuring technology solutions, either in an application analyst or project delivery role.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply industry best practices.
  • Strong computer skills to include internet navigation and email usage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic Certifications in MyChart Patient Portal, EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Link, or related Epic modules, with demonstrated experience applying certified knowledge in production environments.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting, configuring, and optimizing Epic applications within healthcare environments, including hands‑on ownership of build, testing, and production support activities.
  • Proven experience serving as a primary application support contact or subject matter expert, independently troubleshooting complex issues and coordinating resolution across cross‑functional application teams.
  • Strong background in Epic workflow design and requirements translation, with the ability to partner effectively with clinical, operational, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Experience supporting Epic MyChart, Cheers CRM, Care Everywhere, or EpicCare Link in environments requiring integration, configuration management, and adherence to Epic standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform impact analysis, effort estimation, and testing leadership for system enhancements, upgrades, and configuration changes across multiple environments.
  • Working knowledge of web technologies and integrations (e.g., REST APIs, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, SQL) used to support Epic configuration, reporting, or data integration efforts.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, training materials, and end‑user enablement resources, with a focus on adoption, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to provide mentorship, peer review, or informal technical guidance to other analysts while contributing to team standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for business systems design and configuration, and upgrades and improvements for low to medium complexity applications.
  • Design and implement solutions to a wide range of difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough, and practical.
  • Responsible for independent development and configuration of an assigned application.
  • Identify issues that arise in the application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and work to resolve them.
  • Develop new processes and procedures to meet current challenges.
  • Create and maintain system documentation.
  • Lead the estimation of enhancement or support requests.
  • Guide workflow design, configure and test system changes, and analyze technical issues.
  • Liaise with business systems stakeholders and software vendor’s implementation staff to ensure alignment of business needs with the delivery of system changes.
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows; proactively identify opportunities to improve business workflow with technology improvements.
  • Participate in developing documentation and participate in trainings and work with end users.
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions and provide regular updates on status to key business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert of assigned applications.
  • Provide end-user production support for issues entered into issue tracking systems.
  • Review the status of projects and issues with project leadership.
  • Assign or delegate configuration or other activities to other team members.
  • Act as delegate for leadership regarding incident or problem resolution.
  • Provide mentorship for other peers and take the lead to solve problems, even if outside of normal scope.
  • Lead internal process design and documentation to drive continuous improvement for the IT department or team.
