About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst, Budgeting and Estimating is a key operational member of the Film Budgeting team, responsible for building detailed budgets, preparing, evaluating, and presenting cost scenarios, and coordinating essential components of the film incentive process. This role supports productions and internal stakeholders by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of budgeting materials. Success requires strong proficiency in budgeting tools, solid analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, confidential production environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in film budgeting and estimating
  • 4+ years experience in Production Finance at a major studio and/or in freelance accounting for film industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Payroll Accounting Software (SmartAccounting, PSL+), Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized with strict attention to detail
  • Self-starter who thrives in both independent and team environments
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities under tight deadlines
  • Integrity in working with and maintaining confidential information
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare film budgets, location scenarios, and cost analysis for projects in development, both independently and in collaboration with Production Executives, line producers, and budgeters
  • Collaborate with freelance Producers, Financial Controllers, Accounting and Production teams to resolve all incentive and budgeting inquiries including qualified spend assessments, tax obligation analysis, and payroll fringe review
  • Manage all domestic and foreign film incentives for each production including application, tax registration, training, publicity, end credit, and audit requirements
  • Maintain incentive resources and budget trackers for Production Finance and Physical Production, and keep department informed on updated/new incentive schemes
  • Cultivate relationships with Film Commissioners and perform outreach for budgeting and incentive inquiries
  • Track qualified incentive costs and report changes to incentive value
  • Collaborate with EVP Production Finance and Tax Department to monetize film incentives
  • Oversee compliance and due diligence for foreign production service companies
  • Monitor collective bargaining agreements and ensure budgets are updated with current contract requirements
  • Generate and distribute incentive comparisons, budget variances, and other ad hoc analysis to Physical Production and Production Finance Executives
