About The Position

The Position Genentech USA, Inc. seeks a Sr. Manager - Strategic Analytics & Intelligence at its South San Francisco, CA location. Duties: Within global pharmaceutical company, leverage knowledge of data analytics to provide strategic recommendations and actionable insights that benefit customers and patients. Utilize Python, R, SQL and SAS analytic tools to analyze secondary data and translate data analyses into concise, compelling business cases that influence business decisions and strategies. Support investment value optimization by using advanced machine learning to identify promotional channels and frequency of outreach for key customers. Use predictive modeling to determine triggers that help predict customer accounts with patients treated for specific on-label indications. Use statistical techniques to develop mix models to determine the allocation of budgets. Conduct promotional effectiveness measurement to test promotional tactics pilots, optimize their roll outs and measure their return on investment (ROI). Develop and innovate targeting tools and dashboards to assess product and portfolio performance at the national and regional level as well as real time targeting and predictive modeling for field force and omnichannel deployment. Analyze structured and unstructured healthcare datasets to measure market shares of a product and its competitors across lines of therapy, and to assess fulfillment of the product prescriptions. Use longitudinal analysis to understand use of the product over time. Create frameworks to generate key business insights. Design and deliver advanced quantitative data analysis to standardize business rules for therapeutic areas and product indications, and develop methodologies to track the business performance. Use data visualization to create interactive dashboards for field and home office leadership to help track business performance metrics in real time and make dynamic execution decisions. Use presentation software to share insights specific to key products or customers or geographical regions. Deliver impactful insights for market strategy, weighing and communicating trade-off considerations to answer market and strategy questions. Develop business cases for proposed tactics. May supervise 0-3 junior data scientists. May telecommute up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering management or closely related quantitative field and 4 years of experience performing data and business analytics for life sciences, pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
  • SQL, Python, R, Snowflake, Databricks and Amazon Redshift
  • Data visualization and presentation software including Tableau, MS PowerPoint and Excel
  • Market analysis for life sciences, including customer segmentation and targeting
  • Advance Machine Learning and statistical techniques including multivariate regression, K-means, hierarchical clustering and decision trees
  • Translating analysis to concise business stories for non-technical audiences
  • Processing, filtering, and exploring structured and unstructured healthcare datasets including claims patient data, EMR patient data, and payer data
  • Data Mining with SQL, process modeling and data management.
