About The Position

As a Senior Mechanical Engineering and Department Leader, you will provide technical and strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, guiding mechanical designs from concept through construction administration and certificate of occupancy. You will serve as a trusted technical authority, delivering complex projects with precision while mentoring and developing high-performing engineers and designers. Your expertise across multiple market sectors and familiarity with regional codes, standards, and design practices in Seattle and surrounding areas will be critical to project success and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading mechanical and HVAC system design across a diverse portfolio of projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required
  • Demonstrated technical excellence across multiple market sectors, with experience delivering projects from concept through construction administration and certificate of occupancy
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff, supporting long-term professional development and team performance
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of delivering complex projects with technical precision
  • In-depth knowledge of building and mechanical codes, standards, and best practices
  • Familiarity with regional design practices and regulatory requirements in Seattle and surrounding areas
  • Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, IES, and MS Office
  • Experience in strategic planning, resource management, and cross-disciplinary collaboration strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts across all project phases, from conceptual planning through construction administration and occupancy.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record, ensuring technical excellence, code compliance, and adherence to client expectations.
  • Provide strategic technical direction across a diverse portfolio of project types and market sectors.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop mechanical engineering staff, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and team cohesion.
  • Oversee quality control, scheduling, and resource planning for projects assigned to the Seattle team.
  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients, guiding complex decision-making and resolving design challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, owners, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships that foster and lead to repeat business.
  • Stay current with industry codes, standards, emerging technologies, and regional design practices, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
