We are seeking a Sr. Project Controls Specialist to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Responsibilities Support the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System. Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. Supervise and provide technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities. Identify trends for management attention. Supervise schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities. Supervise cost engineering analysis and control activities. Prepare and review or supervise the preparation and presentation of cost engineering and planning activities. Support project organizational and administrative activities. Responsible for cost engineering, cost analysis/control, and planning and scheduling activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for complex discipline/projects/proposal cost and planning activities. Ensure work is completed as scheduled. Contribute to the development of objectives and principles and achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories. Work on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues, providing highly creative solutions. Provide consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Self-initiate assignments and exercise independent judgment to accomplish objectives. Requirements Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work. Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed. Expert-level knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes. Experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis. Experience with cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis in the field and home office. Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel. Skilled in oral and written communication. Proficiency in personal computer operating systems and basic software applications. Proficiency in multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used. Knowledge of financial reporting systems, controller account codes, and understanding of controller instructions that impact project controls, including project financial status reports and earned revenue determination data. Intermediate level of understanding of general project controls technical skills. Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management through specialized instruction or practical experience. For positions serving as Control Account Manager (CAM): subject matter expertise and proven experience with project controls and/or project management, project budgets, cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis, project scheduling, implementation of corrective actions, and delivering detailed and accurate status reports. About the Site The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons.
