About The Position

As a Senior Bankruptcy Specialist, you will be an authority on bankruptcy processes, expertly navigating and resolving the most intricate and high-stakes cases. You will lead by example in executing complex tasks, contribute to establishing best practices, and serve as a vital resource for both your peers and departmental leadership on matters related to bankruptcy, risk, and compliance. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing our daily operations and safeguarding our assets. The Senior Bankruptcy Specialist will: Advanced Case Management: Expertly manage a portfolio of the organization's most complex and sensitive bankruptcy cases, including those in partnership with litigation, and high financial exposure Apply innovative, data-driven approaches to optimize case outcomes and minimize losses Process Excellence & Contribution: Actively contribute to the development and refinement of bankruptcy policies, procedures, and workflows. Identify and propose process improvements and efficiency initiatives that enhance operational scalability and reduce risk Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and manage effective relationships with external partners, including legal counsel and key vendors. Represent the organization in high-level discussions and negotiations, leveraging your expertise to achieve favorable resolutions In-Depth Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Serve as a subject matter expert on federal, state, and investor compliance requirements. Proactively identify and analyze emerging risks within your portfolio, developing and implementing robust mitigation strategies. Assist in preparing for internal and external audits related to bankruptcy operations Management Reporting: Serve as support to management oversight and reporting of complex matters and insightful data, providing recommendations to leadership to maximize efficiency and workqueue performance Mentorship & Skill Development: Directly mentor and guide Bankruptcy Specialists at all levels (I, II, and III), fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance. Share your expertise to help colleagues enhance their skills and navigate complex cases Key Project Participation: Play a leading role in strategic projects and initiatives that span legal, operations, finance, and technology teams, aimed at enhancing bankruptcy management, system capabilities, and regulatory adherence Industry Knowledge Application: Stay abreast of evolving industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices. Apply this knowledge to your daily work and contribute insights to the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Law, or a related field or relevant professional certifications (e.g., in Mortgage Banking, Real Estate Law) highly preferred
  • A minimum of 5 -7 years of progressive experience as a Bankruptcy Specialist or in a directly related senior default servicing role, with a demonstrated history of successfully managing complex, high-impact cases
  • Exceptional and unparalleled expertise in federal, state, and investor bankruptcy rules, regulations, and legal procedures, including an in-depth understanding of judicial and non-judicial processes across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proven track record of success in expertly managing complex, high-value bankruptcy cases, with a clear ability to resolve challenges and achieve superior outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, legal counsel, and external partners
  • Proficient analytical, critical thinking, and strategic problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to foresee challenges and develop proactive, innovative solutions
  • Unwavering attention to detail and an absolute commitment to ensuring the highest levels of accuracy, compliance, and ethical conduct
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with significant autonomy, lead multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, and consistently deliver exceptional results under pressure
